The Prenatal Pattern from "The Metamorphic Technique" by G. Saint-Pierre and B. D'Arcy ThompsonWhat is Metamorphic Technique?

The Metamorphic Technique is a gentle touch to the feet hands and head that stimulates your inner intelligence to make the changes you need to make in your life. The theory is that your life potential was “laid down” during your time in the womb, and that any blocks to the realisation of that potential will be released by this technique. It has been shown to lift Downs syndrome in children and to help avoid the development of Downs syndrome in unborn babies if the mothers receive sessions while pregnant.

The light touch to the spinal reflexes along the bony ridge of the feet, the thumb and the centre of the head catalyses your inner awareness to move you into the energy field you need at the time. I have known people to find the job that has been eluding them for months, or the partner they have longed for, after only a few sessions. Even without such dramatic manifestations, the Metamorphic Technique helps bring your experiences into alignment with your deep intentions.

Having a Metamorphic Technique session is sometimes described as “moving the furniture around” and you can expect an energetic disruption of about that intensity in your psyche and possibly in your outer life as well, particularly during a series of fairly closely spaced sessions (weekly or fortnightly, for example). In general, it is not recommended that one have a Metamorphic Technique session more frequently than once a week unless one has set aside some time dedicated only to your healing process, in which instance daily sessions are advisable.

I have been a registered Metamorphic Technique Practitioner for more than 20 years. I trained with Gaston St. Pierre in London and also attended a workshop in Northern California with Robert St. John, the founder of the Metamorphic Technique, several years before he died.

How can we use Metamorphic Technique in our work together?

Metamorphic sessions last one hour, as do all sessions, with you sitting in a chair. First you have your right foot on a cushion on my lap, then the left, then your right hand, then the left hand and finally I stand and “do” your head. The sessions are very relaxing and you might sleep, or you might choose to talk. Metamorphic sessions can be taken weekly, fortnightly, monthly, every six weeks, seasonally or just occasionally, as you are moved. If you are attending weekly, I might create a treatment program for you that includes a Metamorphic session every second or fourth visit.

Your dreams may be more vivid after a Metamorphic Technique session, and the dream content can be the subject of a later counselling session. However, during the Metamorphic Technique session the practitioner is cautioned to remain detached and to offer no interpretations of any phenomena that may arise or be sensed.

I recommend incorporating the Metamorphic Technique in any long-term commitment to counselling because, like the Bach Flower Remedies, it helps you to make changes without any effort on your part. As you begin to align your thoughts and actions with your true intentions, the Metamorphic Technique gives added impetus to this process, working at the deepest levels of your being.
